ABOUT SAM

Hello and welcome to The Courage HQ. My name is Samantha (Sam) Horwitz and I am your courage consultant. At The Courage HQ, I bring you strategies you can use to cultivate and find the most courageous you ever! In 1999 I was at the top of my game. A United States Secret Service Agent who had the world in my hands. September 11, 2001 changed all of that. I was in 1 WTC when the plane struck it. I lost my confidence, my way in the world, and the "essence" of who I was. I'm here to tell you that you can make it back and LIVE YOUR TRUE SELF, with PASSION and JOY and ACHIEVE ALL THAT YOU ARE COURAGEOUS ENOUGH TO DREAM.

"The only courage you really need is the courage to live the life you want." Oprah Winfrey

After graduating from both the University of Maryland, College Park and Howard University School of Law, Sam was accepted by the United States Secret Service. She was the only female in my graduating class to complete extensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and the James J. Rowley Training Center located just outside Washington, D.C. She was assigned to the New York Field Office, Electronic Crimes Task Force and in addition to investigative case work, she provided protection to several United States Presidents, Former Presidents, First Ladies, and many foreign dignitaries.

September 11, 2001, was a turning point her life... She was in the World Trade Center’s North Tower when American Airlines Flight 11 struck it. After many difficult months, she made the decision to leave the USSS due to the effects of PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). After struggling for over a year, she found the help I needed and got well. She pursued a career in the Health & Wellness industry as a franchise owner of a sports performance center in Rockville, Maryland, providing others with a place to get well and stay healthy.

After realizing that Law Enforcement was still "in her blood," She closed the sports performance center and returned to the law enforcement community in Montgomery County, Maryland as a Lieutenant assigned to The Executive Protection Detail. Her law enforcement career spanned 12 years and she retired in 2012.

Sam is a speaker, author, and high performance coach. Through her experiences, she able to bring her unique strategies to help others overcome and achieve.

She chronicles her 9/11 experience, her journey with PTSD, and ultimately how she found her courage again to rise above her circumstances in her book The Silent Fall. She lives in Rockwall, Texas with her husband, and son.

Let's work together to achieve all that you are courageous enough to dream, with passion and joy! Contact me today to get started.
